*What are the differences between COMMUNITY SERVICE and DONATION Projects:

100 service points required: Points are calculated as follows:

  • 60 points: These points must be earned through community service, such as working at Earth Day or an Elementary school festival, Mentorship, Teacher Helper, Operation Christmas Child Work at Distribution center, etc. At least ONE of these activities must be an activity offered directly through the Beta Club. They will be distinguished as a “FALCON ACTIVITY” this year.
    • Any service project that is NOT on the Beta Club Calendar or listed under Resources needs to be approved by Mrs. Bailey (B-512)
    • All service projects need to be opened to the entire Beta Club to volunteer and needs to be comparable to events on the club calendar.
    • Do NOT assume you will receive points if the project has NOT been approved.
    • You MUST complete "APPROVAL OF SERVICE PROJECT" and turn into Ms. Hughes if a service project is NOT listed on the Beta Club Calendar. (These forms should preferably be turned in BEFORE you begin the project). This form is available under "Resources".
    • The maximum amount of points allowed per service project is 30 points. If you work beyond 3 hours, then you will still only receive 30 points per project. This will encourage students to participate in a variety of projects throughout the year.
  • 40 points: These points are earned by donations by bringing in items school supplies for teachers (EX: Paper), bringing in supplies for making a Shoebox for Operation Christmas Child, etc. You cannot earn more than 40 points in this category
  • NOTE: I am NOT LIMITING community service points, however the max for bringing in supplies/donations is limited to 40 points.
  • A service slip must be completed for EACH community/service project completed (See "Resources" to find service slips). Service slips MUST be turned in within TWO WEEKS of time of service to correct sponsor in order to receive your points. ALL SERVICE slips must be given to your Beta Club adviser (according to grade level).

** How do you earn MEETING POINTS:

  • The schedule of meetings are (mostly) held the LAST Tuesday of every month. See CALENDAR for specific dates!
  • Your adviser will determine if she can hold meetings during FLEX that day as well.
  • Each meeting that you attend: 20 points
  • If you are unable to attend meetings, then you should PRINT the minutes (Under "Resources") SIGN, and TURN into your sponsor within TWO WEEKS of the meeting -- 10 points
  • Deadline for meeting points: May 13th (Friday)

Any service project that is NOT on the Beta Club calendar or listed under Resources must be approved by Mrs. Bailey. Do NOT assume you will receive points if the project has not been approved. Print this form and give to Mrs. Bailey before you begin your service project.

Service slips are needed for each activity/donation that you do with the Beta Club. Please print and keep on hand to take with you when you volunteer at a Beta sponsored project. You will need to turn the service slip into your sponsor (according to your grade) once you have completed your volunteering. You must turn in your service slip within TWO WEEKS of service date. Service will be denied if not turned into correct sponsor in this timely manner.
