Student Exchange Program

2019-2020 Exchange Program Update (3/1/2019):

Enrollment for the 2019-2020 Exchange Program is full.  Any further applications submitted for the 2019-2020 school year will be added to a wait list.  If space opens up in our program the first person on the wait list will be offered the open spot.  Thank you for your interest in our program.

Nation Ford High School welcomes up to three exchange students each year to become part of our Nation Ford Family.  Each year students from around the world work with accredited exchange companies to secure a spot at Nation Ford High School.  Nation Ford High School accepts students on a first come first serve basis.  The first three students who have an applications turned in from an accredited exchange program will be offered one of the three spots.  If for any reason one of these students cannot fulfill the spot it will be offered to the next applicant.

               Protocol for Foreign Exchange Students

  1. Nation Ford High School will accept 3 foreign exchange students per year.
    1. Students are accepted for the full year, not just one semester.
  2. Applicants must be a high school student in their home country, 9th-12th grade.
  3. The host family must live in Nation Ford High School’s attendance zone.
  4. A host family may have only one foreign exchange student attending Nation Ford.
  5. Applicants must be participating in an acceptable foreign exchange program and will be considered only after the following information has been received and reviewed by Administration and Guidance:
    1. Profile/Brochure about the sponsoring foreign exchange program
    2. Completed application from the student including immunization records
    3. Letter from the host family indicating their intent to sponsor the student
  6. Students will be accepted on a first come first served basis.


Foreign Exchange Student Enrollment

  • The host family must complete the New Student Enrollment process:
    1. Schedule an enrollment appointment,
    2. Complete the necessary paperwork, and
    3. Contact the school counselor to discuss course selection (documentation of courses required by the foreign exchange program should be received)

Foreign Exchange Student Policies

  1. Foreign Exchange students will be classified as 9th graders but placed in the homeroom corresponding to the student’s home country grade level.
  2. Foreign Exchange students must follow their program guidelines regarding courses they must take but must take an English and US History course.
  3. Foreign Exchange students will take EOC Exams (if applicable) but are not required to take PSAT, ACT or WorkKeys.
  4. Foreign exchange students may attend prom regardless of their grade level
  5. Foreign exchange students may receive 1 ticket to attend graduation

End of Year Procedures

  1. Recognize students at the Awards Program via Certificate of Participation
  2. Provide students with a copy of their transcript and report card
    • File copies of the students’ schedules, report cards, and transcripts
